May 3, 2016 05:35:01I want to salute whosoever that brought this noble idea to our Distinguished Senator. I have seen transparency in action. This is what i have been advocating for, where merit will overcome nepotism and tribalism. If this standard is kept, this will give alot of intelligent students from poor background hope of becoming a brand through acquisition of free and sound education. Education is the best gift to any mind. I pray God to give the Senator grace to maintain the Scholarship Scheme till the end of his stay at National Assembly.

May 4, 2016 01:54:43I, Sifon Okon Nyong, a native of Mbiaya Uruan sincerely appreciate the bold step taken by the distinguished senator representing the prestigious Uyo senatorial district in the Senate, Senator Obong Bassey Albert, for the pellucid attention given to the plight of the students in His senatorial district. This really explicate the adage that says 'Charity Begins At Home'. May the almighty God bless him and grant him wisdom not just to sustain the scholarship scheme but to also become the Awolowo of our time.

May 4, 2016 08:30:57Good Morning Sir, Please what happens to those who were born in December, 1990?. I think they should be given due consideration as admissions in Nigeria is not very easy to secure immediately after completion of secondary education. I think that a review of the criteria is possible to assist Nigerian students indeed. I suffice to say that this is a laudable development. Please put these into consideration. Thank you Sir.

May 4, 2016 05:55:58With all due respect, I beg to say that disqualifying final year students is against academics itself. Schools give premium to final year students on a number of grounds. Is academics not heavier in final year with the combination of regular courses, long essay and seminars? Does this not mean more financial burden on the final year students? Whatever is worth doing should be done well. If I am denied this because I am in final year, it will go down as bad history for the senator.

May 5, 2016 09:27:11With due respect Sir I think the conditions for the disqualification are too much, What of the 300level students who still have like four more semesters to go?,we appreciate the fact that you remembered your Promise to the youth, and We pray that God's blessing be continuous in your life... But Please Sir consider the fact that our financial Burdens are more heavier in our last sessions in school, What of the final year and third year student who submitted their files accordingly? Atleast consider Us... Thank you.

May 10, 2016 07:57:51I must say this is a welcome development in uyo senatorial district, I pray God to protect and guard our senator, senator Bassey Albert Akpan aka OBA and give him ability to do more to salvage the suffering of Nigerian students from this part of the state from college drop out due to financial constraint.I want to also plead with the senator knowing too well that he is a father who has a listening ear for his children to please review the criteria in the area of age, pls sir age should not barrier some of US who are self spornsord and qualify for this assistance from you sir, for example am 27 years but still have two years left to complete my studies from university of uyo.I really need this help from sir to enable me scale through. God bless sen.OBA
Sambo, Effiok Joshua Says:
May 10, 2016 01:36:36Dear Admin, I'm commenting on the criterion " 25 years being the benchmark for applicants' qualification". I solicit for a reconsideration of this item in the criteria, reasons being that: 1. The likelihood of these young adults (those above 25 years) personally financing their academic bills as against those at 25 and below is high. They should be given positive consideration to equally benefit from this scheme, as it will reduce their work load on raising their much needed funding (as they go as much as using their academic time for menial jobs). 2. In developed nations, their counterparts are already settled in terms of their first and second degrees, some even operating with two masters' degrees. But even at this, they are still resilient in their educational pursuit, not giving up on their dreams. Another is the challenge of Learning in the same lecture halls with students much younger than them (some their junior students back in secondary school); but still the spirit of resilience keeps them above these torrents. I think this Education Grant will serve as an aid, a profound encouragement to their resilience. 3. One of the reasons the "dakarda project" was launched was for the indigenous people of Akwa Ibom State to rise up above mediocrity. And if these young adults have decided to live above mediocrity through education (And in the words of our own Nelson Mandela- "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world"), I think they shouldn't be side lined from this timely intervention of our "human resource development" oriented leaders. Finally, I'm using this opportunity to applaud my Honourable Senator for having his people at heart. This shows indeed that the Government is closer to the people than the conventional way we knew it to be.

May 10, 2016 08:52:58Good evening sir, please, i write to respond the the fourth criteria used for disqualification mentioned above. With regards to certificate of origin that is not genuine, i wish to know if photocopy of certificate of origin is considered as not genuine too. I mentioned earlier in your facebook page with regards to why i had to post the photocopy C. O. O. that was because it wasnt handy and i needed to meet the deadline. Please, would the above outlined point disqualify me? Have met all the other requirements but just confused on that one. Thank you as i anticipate your reply.
